I’m in pain! People tend to forget that when they don’t see me I could still be well in pain. Stopped taking painkillers for bed last night (I don’t take any during the day, so I don’t rely on it), but it started hurting at supper just now. I was taking this thing down from the shelf last night and the remote control (of my camcorder) fell on my finger! It happened so hard so fast that I didn’t even have time to swear, tears filled my eyes. My finger dressing is a bit flattened after the hit, and this pain now…
For people who don’t know what happened, I was talking about the little finger on my right. I went to a B&B in London last EXEAT weekend (2nd May to 5th May). There was this really steep stairs on our floor. On Saturday morning 8:45 a.m.(3rd May), Cindy and I were about to go down the stairs for breakfast. She was going down slowly (normal, because the stairs were really quite steep and narrow and it was turning), so I waited (“Cindy, walk faster!” I said.), holding onto the door. Then the door closed, and my little finger was trapped between the gap. The pain wasn’t that bad then, I said “Ouww” and must have tried to pull my finger away. When I finally did I realised that my finger nail has gone out of place. Didn’t exactly know what the situation was like, I told Cindy, “Shit, I need first aid.”
I went down three flights of stairs to the B&B guy and my finger was starting to bleed quite a bit. The guy told me that my nail has come off so I needed to go to the hospital, so I went back up one flight of stairs ready to go (holding a towel to collect the blood). As I reached the door who was held opened by the B&B man and saw sunlight, I suddenly started to see kaleidoscopic colours. I fainted for a few seconds, couldn’t move or open my eyes, but could still hear what people around were saying (sounded really distant, and I can’t remember a thing afterwards). The B&B guy called an ambulance instead but I was concious again. Went to St.Mary’s hospital A&E (Accident and Emergency), took 2 X-rays (thank god, no fractures), then waited and waited till about 11 a.m., transferred to Chelsea and Westminster Hospital Hand Management Unit (Day Surgery), then at 1:15 p.m. they finally did the surgery and put the nail back in place.
Yeh, pretty much of the story. The nurse (male) at St.Mary’s said I had a really high pain threshold. And I also had a Tetanus booster, so I’m taking penicillin and flucloxacillin now. Also, if you have not already guessed, I have to use my left hand to do my homework, and I typed this whole entry all by my developing left. Impressive?
