It was morning in the dream, the sky was clear and the weather comfortably cool. I was a soldier teamed up with a few other men. I think we had been in heavy combat because we were really exhausted, to the point that even smiling would be too much effort. We sat recovering in a clean urban area, too tired to chat; the place eerily quiet.
We sprang to full alert as we heard the first enemy missile being launched. Somehow it was decided that our team should retreat while the others cover us. There was no commanding, no communication. We just knew what we had to do. I dragged myself along walking backwards (?!) and took cover in a room with a clear ceiling where the mild sunlight could shine through.
I leaned against the edge/wall. I could hear sickening thuds that were meant to be small explosions in the distance, and cringed as I knew that with every boom I hear, an ally (one exactly) was sacrificed in the suicidal mission. I was distracted soon, though, as a huge group of civilians/ refugees came pouring into the room.
They didn’t seem to be bothered at all and were laughing, chatting, taking their time to be seated. They had even arranged some Hong Kong celebrities as their entertainment, which was to my surprise as only a couple of them were Asians. I thought to myself, how could these people be so carefree and oblivious to everything around them? Just then I looked through the door they came in and saw a mother telling her son off as the kid refused to move to a safer place.
The singers started to sing. The last thing I heard was the singing blending with the thuds/explosions. I either stopped dreaming or forgot the rest of the dream from there.
P.S. As you can see, I didn’t make it for CSS Reboot. Oh well, more time to completely recode and redesign, I guess, as I was never happy with the unreleased design.
