Are You There, FSM? It’s Me, Vickie

Dear Flying Spaghetti Monster,

I pray, when you boot me up from sleep mode next morning, please grant me the following plugin / software on my humble human body.

  1. Pronunciation checker:

Ensign. Inventory. Lasagne. Lingerie. Nonchalant. I mispronounced all those words all these years?!

(I’d ask for a grammar checker, too, but let’s start with the basics, shall we?)

  2. Search function:

    Search: my other stripy sock

(I promise, I’ll search for more meaningful things and answers once I find my other stripy sock.)

  3. Strong and emphasis tags:

That's manslaughter. Manslaughter! Get it? Hahahaha.

  4. Appear offline function:

    Was that a PUN?!

  5. Maybe also a lesbiandar?! Wow, let’s not be too greedy there.

Actually, don’t worry about any of the above. Please cleanse me of “Procrastination” because it’s a total RAM hog, and I kinda have 1 more mid-semester exam and 2 essays to hand in soon.

Have mercy on me, O FSM. RAmen!

Vickie

Read your long but nicely written blog entry, thought up something nice to say, clicked “write a comment” and your blogging software of choice made me join their service first. Reading your long and very hyperlinked blog entry; hey wait a minute, it’s a frigging sponsored post! Reading your long blog entry; okay, I can’t even read what you’re writing. What happened to line-height and colour contrast?

University assignments have drained me of my intelligence and coherence (if applicable); I’m reduced to saying all but four words: What the fuck, people?

Lean-Forward is now Vickiepedia

2003: Lean-Forward.com is a weird domain name, I wish I could come up with something clever, like a play on my name “Vickie”. 2004: Lean-Forward.com is a weird domain name, I wish I could come up with something clever, like a play on my name “Vickie”. 2005: Lean-Forward.com is a weird domain name, I wish I could come up with something clever, like a play on my name “Vickie”. 2006: Lean-Forward.com is a weird domain name, I wish I could come up with something clever, like a play on my name “Vickie”. 2007: Lean-Forward.com is a weird domain name, I wish I could come up with something clever, like a play on my name “Vickie”.

Vickie says (23:48:04): I want a domain with a play on my name. Any ideas?
Ellis says (23:48:06): Vickiepedia?
Vickie says (23:48:07): 0.0

And Vickiepedia was born.

Now, this is what I call a tasteful April Fools’ joke. Qwantz.com is xkcd, xkcd.com is Questionable Content, questionablecontent.net is Dinosaur Comics (qwantz.com).

Tasteful April Fools' joke

Compared to some horrible, tasteless joke…

Tasteless April Fools' joke

Shutting down Taiwanese Guild Wars servers? Give me a break.

Wait. It… it’s really just a joke, right? It has to be? Please?

Version 9: Spike Trap

If you’re reading this, my dear and excellent friend, Vickie has finally done it. Yes, a new layout for Lean-Forward after 1.66 years; and yes, the site is now valid XHTML 1.0 strict; and yes, she stuck her face on the header image; but yes, she’s finally not stealing game images; and yes, the theme is also affectionately(?) named “Spike Trap”! And because I’ve known IE for another 1.66 years, this time there was little trouble getting the layout to look the way it’s intended on it! Woo!

I’m not entirely sure about the colours, though, especially with the <em> and the links; but I’ve been staring at the layout for hours and my eyes aren’t bleeding yet, so I guess it’s not too bad! The layout also has so much potential to be a fluid layout, but I shied away… I have yet to fix the smileys and favicon to match the new theme, too.

Pffft, sleep is for the weak!
